Morgans is the hotel that changed all the rules. From the moment it opened its doors on Madison Avenue, it startled the world with a convention-shattering attitude and distinctive design sensibility. This grand experiment in style was concocted by legendary designer Andrée Putman, whose projects have ranged from the Guggenheim Museum to Peter Greenaway movie sets. In 2008, Morgans Hotel Group unveils Andrée Putman’s new vision for Morgans, a powerful reinterpretation that propels Morgans style and spirit forward without changing its unique character. New design additions include an art installation commissioned by Ms. Putman and created by the French design collective Trafik which is installed on the lobby ceiling behind a stretched white barisol canvas. Ms. Putman has re-imagined the guestrooms and penthouse and The “Living Room” has been re-done and upgraded with a high-tech business center. Morgans signature restaurant, Asia de Cuba, continues to create a culinary and social buzz. In a soaring, theatrical space, restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow’s dynamic menu blends Latin and Asian cuisine with stunning results.
