Conceived by critically acclaimed French designer Andrée Putman, Morgans’ New York City luxury rooms and suites are nothing short of a tour de force. Elegantly unfussy, the rooms are designed for ultimate comfort: custom-designed armchairs of wool are meticulously tailored, yet at the same time, yearning to be curled up in. The cool grey carpeting disappears beneath your feet as you take in the magnificence of Putman’s unparalleled taste. A metal-inlaid Corian table and La Notte beside lamps, in a tribute to Antonioni, speak to the sophisticated yet understated luxury of the hotel. The bathrooms, a signature design feature of the hotel, have been updated, yet retain their strong visual identity. Their striking black and white checkered pattern combines an evocation of the 1930s and the digital age, referencing oversize pixels. Originally hand-selected when the doors were first opened over twenty years ago (before being recognized as the revolutionary he is known as today), Robert Mapplethorpe’s renowned black and white photography will remain the focal point and marvel of Morgans’ guests.
